This week is a big MUSICAL week in our school. I hope as many of you as possible can come along and support this great extra-curricular pursuit which allows our students to showcase their talents and creative flair. The team behind the musical have given countless hours to prepare and rehearse and I am looking forward to seeing all their efforts come to fruition.

Reports have been emailed to all parents and carers. The conversation at home with your student about the reports and what the results reflect are an important step in the learning process for all. Please remember, in term 3, reports are a precursor to our scheduled parent and teacher interviews. The parent communication and involvement in school academics with teachers is a strong supportive factor for improvement of your student’s future achievement. Book in and come along where you can to support your student’s learning improvement journey.

The start of this term has been very tragic for our school. As per my previous communications, losing one of our own Wynnum SHS family is a deeply devastating occurrence. I want to thank all parents and carers for your supportive response to the family at the centre of the tragedy, but also to those impacted here at Wynnum SHS. I want to thank you all for the conversations and support you have provided your students and their peers at this difficult time. As always, we maintain opportunities here at school for students to access our Guidance Team and our Chaplaincy services. Please encourage your students to reach out should you feel it necessary. In time, and in respect and cooperation with the family, we will find the ways to celebrate and remember Declan here at school. I am always impressed by how schools such as ours, specifically young people, their teachers and parents, can all band together to support each other in such difficult times.
